"Once I started writing my prayers, everything in my life began to CHANGE!"
Years ago I began to wonder what would happen if I spent more time deciding and planning what I was going to pray. Like you, I used to pray consistently but it was always thoughts and requests that I didn’t really think through. I just spoke to God about what was on my heart at the time.
Then one day I began to realize how infinitely powerful God is. I began to marvel at how amazingly awesome the Creator of the universe is. Even though He exists outside of time, I began to value my time with Him more and more. I also began to respect the time He gave me in my prayer time with Him even more.
So, I decided that if the Creator could lend me His ear for just a few moments, I was going to make those moments a priority and I was going to plan out what I was going to say to Him. I began to prepare for prayer. I began to research scriptures about God’s promises so I could put him in remembrance of His Word and so I could encourage myself and build my faith. The more I began to read and study His Word first before prayer, the more effective my prayers became. Then I created a template for prayer based on the way Jesus tells us to pray in Matthew 6:9-13. Finally, I starting preparing for prayer as if it were court or an important business meeting. When I went before God I was grateful, I was prepared to discuss my points, and prepared to listen and be receptive to both his answer or his rebuke. I started seeing God as not only a loving Father, but also the judge of my life.
Once I started writing my prayers, everything in my life began to CHANGE! Then I began writing more prayers and creating prayers for others. Until one day, while on Facebook I noticed a young woman in the technology space like myself venting about how difficult it was for her to break into the IT space. I totally understood her pain. So, I drafted a prayer for her using the template and recommended that she pray over her situation and told her I would pray for her as well. The response was overwhelming. All these comments were coming in and people wanted a copy of the template I used to create the prayer. Thus the prayer template was born! It is my sincere desire to see everyone experience a more intimate, intentional, and beautiful prayer life. I hope this template blesses your life.
Prayer is not a way to manipulate God into getting him to do something. Prayer is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Prayer is about communing and partnering with Your Father to carry out His Will. Before asking him for things He knows you need, ask Him how you can help Him. Ask Him what He desires you to do and who He desires you to help. The more you pray and study to the more transformation of your spirit, mind, body, and soul you should experience.
So use this template as a way to become more effective, but always reflect on how you can change to be more like the Father who loves you so much! Please know that I love you with the love of Jesus Christ and I am praying for you!
